Plastic coating

AJP has a state-of-the-art plastic or paper film coating machine at the service of extrusion companies and paper manufacturers.

AJP is a company located in the North of France near Valenciennes. Its specialities are cutting and coating on plastic film.
Our company collaborates with numerous plastic film extrusion companies, in PE, PET, PP, in order to either cut the film reels, or to coat them in order to allow an optimal printing quality. (Coating).

Coating is a technique that consists of coating a surface (paper, textile, plastic etc) with chemicals (such as PVC or polyurethane) to apply a particular treatment to that surface. The treated surface will obtain all the desired characteristics.
Plastic coating will therefore allow the characteristics of surfaces to be modified by coating the material with plastics. This can be done with PET film or PVC film, for example.

Plastic Coating : Film extrusion in cast or blown film

Film extrusion is carried out either in cast or blown form. In cast, the film is extruded flat and cast in line. It is a complex industrial process mainly used in the field of food packaging or technical products to produce sophisticated films. The process can even be used to combine several polymeric materials into multi-layer films, the type of films used by AJP for its coating part.
In blown film, the extrusion is blown into a tubular form and then wound into a master reel, which can then be processed by AJP for cutting or coating.

A high-performance coating machine

Thanks to its high-performance coating machine, AJP can apply a primer to any type of plastic film. In addition, our technology and know-how in chemical products allow us to apply colouring to the plastic film, such as fluorescent inks for example.
Companies that extrude plastic films call on AJP to apply a primer or other coating that improves the surface properties of the film, perfecting its appearance, adhesion, UV resistance, ink adhesion, or adjusting the surface properties to mechanical constraints and the various elements of the external environment (UV, temperature, oxidation, etc.).

The advantages of plastic coating

The properties of treated plastics are transformed. The material acquires a better resistance, which can be used to manufacture specific parts. This technique can also be used to create food packaging. The treatment creates a barrier against oxygen, which is useful for the preservation of products.

The surface coating facilitates its maintenance thanks to its high resistance to various environmental aggressions. It can make the material waterproof, stain resistant and corrosion resistant. Coating also has the potential to make the plastic heat resistant. And plastic parts with excellent strength make the product less susceptible to ageing! The process therefore offers considerable financial savings thanks to the high resistance of the plastic!

Coating is also a way to reduce packaging, for example by using polyethylene terephthalate coating. This process is used in the food industry to ensure better preservation of products.

Coating also meets an ecological challenge, particularly for the food industry. Indeed, consumers are looking to limit the amount of packaging in their products. But some foods cannot be packaged simply in paper because of the moisture they produce. Coating allows paper and plastic to be mixed together to make the material more easily recyclable.
